Dance Auditions 2026

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for Stars In Your Eyes at the Lake Wānaka Centre in September 2026. Dancers have always been part of the show, and we're now casting for this year's production!

About Stars In Your Eyes

Now in its fourth decade, Stars In Your Eyes is Wānaka's longest-running show, playing to sell-out audiences at the Lake Wānaka Centre. Organised by Wānaka Musicians Incorporated and run almost entirely by volunteers, it supports music education in our community.

Auditions

Auditions will be a group-style rehearsal. Choreographer Hannah will teach a warm-up and a short dance, which you'll then perform as a group. Please wear jazz shoes or sneakers you can dance in.

On the form, we'll ask for a brief outline of your dance background — including any experience you have and the styles you've trained or performed in. We're mainly looking for dancers with some prior experience.
Your audition will be on Friday 31 July 2026, 6:00–7:30pm, at Dance Wanaka, 19 Cliff Wilson Street, Wānaka.

Key dates

Anyone auditioning must be available for all of the following: technical rehearsal on the weekend of 19–20 September, dress rehearsal on Monday 21 September, and show nights from Tuesday 22 to Saturday 26 September. Non-attendance on any of these is not negotiable.

Other rehearsal requirements will be confirmed once dancers have been cast, but are likely to be Tuesday and Friday evenings, possibly with some weekends, from now until show week. These will be confirmed once the show is cast but please factor this into your decision to apply.

All roles are limited to performers aged 16 and above on 31st July 2026. All performing roles are unpaid.

If you really can't make it to the audition but would like to be involved, please get in touch — there may be an opportunity to submit a video audition instead.
