Stars in Your Eyes- Wanaka's longest running local show


In the early 1990s, Wanaka- a little town in the centre of the south island of New Zealand, was a secret spot on the tourist map, a family holiday destination. TV reception was marginal and TV programmes were scarce. The Internet was in its infancy and main entertainment for locals was the weekly visit to the pub, or the movies at the town hall.

In those days a farmer from the Cardrona Valley watched a TV programme called "Stars in their Eyes" and he thought he could stage something like that with his band "Highway 89". So Farmer- that's what his friends call him- gathered his ideas called a meeting with two of his music buddies and the local show "Stars in YOUR Eyes" was borne. More...

The Wanaka Musicians Society 's only task


The one and only task for the Wanaka Musicians Society Inc. is to organize produce and stage the Stars in Your Eyes show and distribute the proceeds of the show to local schools. The moneys are to be used for musical education though.
